All you need to do when you’re ready to cook this soup is add the contents of the jar with 6 cups of water and cook it for 1-2 hours. Delicious!

  • ¾ cups green split peas
  • ½ cup yellow split peas
  • ½ cup red lentils
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onion

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 plant-based bouillon cubes

When cooking:

  • 6 cups water

Instructions

To assemble the jars:

  • In a 16-ounce pint-sized mason jar, layer in the green split peas, yellow split peas, and red lentils.
  • Add the bay leaves, dried minced onion, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and black pepper over the beans.
  • Place the wrapped bouillon cubes on top before closing.
  • Store in a pantry cabinet for later use.

To cook:

  • Unwrap the bouillon cubes and add to a large pot over high heat with 6 cups of water, and bring to a boil.
  • Add the rest of the contents of the premade soup jar.
  • Cover the pot and simmer until the split peas and lentils are soft (1 – 2 hours), adding more water if needed.
  • Discard the bay leaves.
