Lavera is the cruelty-free, organic beauty line you need to try RN!
As a Style and Beauty writer, I do a lot of product investigation, comparison, and straight up judgment. And as an active beauty consumer—and a total beauty enthusiast, to boot—I like to think of myself as a pretty harsh critic when it comes to the world of skincare and cosmetics.
With a whole new wave of non-toxic and eco-friendly lines of products to try from, there’ve been some unbelievable changes to the beauty industry, with a much greater range of respective product safety, quality and efficacy to balance as we choose which products to bring into our homes and lives.
That being said, I’m also a strong believer in cruelty-free beauty (and in animal rights, in general). When I get really excited about a company or a product, it’s because on top of a commendable product, they’ve got an animal-friendly formula and vegan-friendly practices that takes the product above and beyond, deserving of a vegan’s stamp of approval. (Cough, cough, Kat von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick? Yes, Please.)
…Which brings us to Lavera Naturkosmetic, the line of products I recently tried and fell head-over-heels for while in Paris, France.
I actually discovered the German brand of all-natural skincare and cosmetics in a small, organic market near the flat I was staying in, and picked up a bottle of lotion while buying some food staples. Upon using the lotion — which I am uber-picky about — I was impressed at its high quality, scrumptious scent, and the organic and cruelty-free ingredients its made of.
Since switching over to using green products, I’m constantly searching for organic, vegan products that live up to my favorite memories of days past, making this little Parisian discovery in the world of moisturizer ultra-special.
It’s formulated without parabens, synthetic preservatives, colors, or fragrances, and made with organic herbs and ingredients. It goes on deceptively light, but will leave your skin smooth and moisturized all day… plus, it smells delicious. I loved the scent of the Almond Milk + Honey (it was the only option they had in stock!), but for a truly vegan product, I’d opt for the Wild Rose Body Lotion.
Since coming back to the states, I’ve also decided to try out their Liquid Eyeliner—which is on par with your average drugstore felt-tip liner, but is cruelty-free and much safer, making it worth the price hike IMO— and their Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover. The jury is still out on these two latest beauty trials, but I’ll take any opportunity I can to swap my beauty faves out for an animal-friendly version! And thankfully, there’s a growing market of conscious consumers and green-minded businesses to choose from in the search for truly top-of-the-line green beauty products.
