The Natural Products Expo West is the world’s largest natural foods tradeshow that takes place every year in Anaheim, California. I’ve been going for many years, and it’s been exciting to watch the natural foods landscape evolve over the past decade.
One of the biggest trends this year was vegan food. It seemed like every booth found a way to slap the word “vegan” onto their booth signage or across their packaging, with many of the companies identifying as fully vegan. Even inherently vegan items like coconut water were adding vegan to their label because they want to capture that audience and marketshare.
Not long ago were the days when every time a new vegan product or company was born, it made headlines across all the vegan news outlets, magazines, blogs, and word buzzed from vegan to vegan faster than lightning. Today, hot new products go unnoticed because there are so many coming to life that it’s nearly impossible to keep up. For example, the number of new vegan ice cream companies, plant-based milk brands, and vegan cookies on the market makes my head spin.
That’s why it’s so fun to wander the aisles of the Natural Products Expo hunting for the best of vegan. This year I came across hundreds of products that I felt were worth mentioning, and dozens that I know will quickly become new favorites. I put together a series of videos from the Expo so you can come along for the ride and virtually experience the excitement of this annual event. You can watch them below. Enjoy!
